Lana Del Rey has taken to Twitter to officially respond to Frances Bean Cobain’s comments in regards to her interview with The Guardia n where she stated she thought early death was “glamorous” and “I wish I was dead already.”

In response to the interview, Cobain left a series of tweets to Del Rey that have since been deleted. Many were saying that Cobain slammed Del Rey, but the tweets appeared to show concern and genuinely tried to put perspective on the situation.

Cobain tweeted:

@LanaDelRey the death of young musicians isn’t something to romanticize…I’ll never know my father because he died young & it becomes a desirable feat because ppl like u think it’s ‘cool’….Well, it’s f—ing not…Embrace life, because u only get one life. The ppl u mentioned wasted that life. Don’t be 1 of those ppl…ur too talented to waste it away.

Del Rey responded directly to Frances Bean Cobain with two separate tweets:

@alka_seltzer666 it’s all good. He was asking me a lot a out your dad I said I liked him because he was talented not because he died young-

— Lana Del Rey (@LanaDelRey) June 23, 2014

@alka_seltzer666 the other half of what I said wasn’t really related to the people he mentioned/ I don’t find that part of music glam either — Lana Del Rey (@LanaDelRey) June 23, 2014

After Cobain sent her series of tweets, BBC News reports Rey began questioning the motives of her interviewer saying:

“I regret trusting the guardian- I didn’t want to do an interview but the journalist was persistent. Alexis was masked as a fan but was hiding sinister ambitions and angles. Maybe he’s actually the boring one looking for something interesting to write about. His leading questions about death and persona were calculated.”

However, The Guardian journalist Tim Jonze wasn’t having any of that. He said:

“Besides the fact Lana doesn’t remember who actually interviewed her, there are a number of things about her statement that sound a bit iffy to me. She can hardly complain about the subject matter: she’d been talking about her icons all dying young, she named her debut album Born to Die and had spent much of the 50 minutes previous to this point telling me how miserable she was.”

Perez Hilton also had something to say about the whole situation:

“While these tweets certainly add more clarification to her remarks, her death wish comment stands alone as a troubling statement!”

It appears Cobain has no ill will towards Del Rey, and the issue has been settled as neither Frances or Lana have any more to say on the matter. What do you think of Lana Del Rey’s response to Frances Cobain?
