Not Al Gore, mind- the blood and guts type normally absent from his films.
Gosling is currently at the top of the box office with his new hit film Crazy Stupid Love, starring alongside Steve Carrell, Julianne Moore and Emma Stone. And while the Canadian star is generally known for softer roles in movies such as Lars and The Real Girl and chick flick classic The Notebook , Gosling says that has he has matured, darker fare has become more appealing.
Now 30, Gosling- who started out appearing on The Mickey Mouse Club – says that working on the upcoming film Drive has broadened his horizons. The fair-haired hunk admits working with director Nicolas Winding Refn on the film helped him open up to more edgy options:
“It’s funny, the first thing Nic said to [me] was, ‘Violence is an art.’ At the time, I wasn’t really watching a lot of violent films, but I’ve started now. I’ve [realized] that I like blood.”
Gosling added:
“Do I set goals? Not really… I think now that I’m 30 I’m more comfortable. Maybe it’s because I’m playing characters that are older, so it’s easier to find good material. But I also have more control, I think.”
