Scholastic Media announced today, via press release, that they will be re-launching the beloved 1990’s children’s cartoon, The Magic School Bus . The original series ran for 18 consecutive years and was seen in more than 39 countries. With those impressive statistics, The Magic School Bus holds the record for the longest-running kids’ science series in history.
The new version will be re-imagined and called The Magic School Bus 360 Degrees . The show is scheduled for an initial offering of 26 episodes and will be featured on Netflix. The show is scheduled to go live in 2016. Deborah Forte, President of Scholastic Media said:
Our new rendition The Magic School Bus 360 degrees is a similarly compelling addition to the current landscape of children’s programming and on Netflix is bound to reach more families around the world than ever before who will now be able to watch the show anytime, anywhere they want.
Fear not, 90s kids, Mrs. Frizzle isn’t going anywhere. The new rendition of the show will still feature wild Mrs. Frizzle and her escapades in learning via her “Magic School Bus.” The new program will be animated with state-of-the-art computer animation by the Emmy Award-winning creative team at Scholastic Media. Ted Sarandos, Chief Content Officer of Netflix, notes that The Magic School Bus and other 90s programs already have high ratings on Netflix so the new series only makes sense.

The kid’s television series was inspired by the bestselling Scholastic books written by Joanna Cole and illustrated by Bruce Degen. In total, the books have sold over 85 million copies in nine different languages.
