While many states have begun using marijuana as an acceptable drug of choice for many of their suffering patients, the federal government this week refused to reclassify the narcotic for medical use, a reclassification that many marijuana supporters have been fighting for over the last nine years, arguing that Medical marijuana has been shown to offer relief in cases of glaucoma, nausea, MS and various other conditions.

Freaking out over the “dangers” the drug provides a DEA administrator noted that it “has a high potential for abuse,” and “has no currently accepted medical use for any treatments in the United States” while adding that the product “lacks accepted safety for use under medical supervision.”

For their part advocates of medical marijuana were thrilled with the ruling, with one advocate noting that a ruling of any sort now allows them to appeal the decision in federal courts, something they could not do in the past.

The lead attorney for the case noted:

“We have foiled the government’s strategy of delay, and we can now go head-to-head on the merits.”

Where do you stand on the issue of medical marijuana?
