American diners at a Burger King restaurant might grab dinner by chowing down on a Whopper hamburger and an order of fries. However, if you happen to visit a specific Burger King is located in Shanghai, China, you’ll likely see people slurping down a frosty dessert that’s known as a “PooPoo Smoothie.”

Apparently that’s the best English translation for the menu offering, so it’s also the way the beverage is listed on the bilingual Burger King menu board. If you’re wondering what type of flavors it might contain, all while concocting the possibilities in your mind and wearing a grimace on your face, you may be surprised at the answer.

Reportedly, Burger King customers who try the smoothie will treat their taste buds to a mango-flavored creation that has been earning rave reviews . Also, the Burger King choice has an innovative textured element, because it features pearl-shaped candies floating inside the strangely named mixture.

According to people at Burger King who have been brave enough to try the drink, the candies tend to explode while in the mouth, which could make this product a new favorite with children or anyone else who likes to enjoy weird mouth sensations while gulping down a refreshment. That phenomenon at least won’t be unfamiliar to consumers who enjoy bubble tea. It’s now popular around the world and features chewy round balls inside.

Although mango seems to be the main flavor of the drink, it also includes vanilla. Traditionally, vanilla is thought of as a very standard flavor often preferred by people who gravitate towards classic tastes rather than daringly creative ones. Because mangoes are usually characterized by a blend of both tartness and sweetness though, the PooPoo Smoothie might be able to impressively satisfying to a very large portion of the target audience that Burger King wants to entice.

ABC News reported that in Chinese, the name of the Burger King treat roughly translates to “mango ice smoothie with blow-up pearls cold beverage.” Whew! That’s such a mouthful that it’s no wonder Burger King has tried to make the advertising more accessible for tourists or any other visitors who don’t speak Chinese and are not able to read the language.

Also, the PooPoo Smoothie has gotten coverage from American news sources, and that’s almost certainly due to its curious name. The marketing experts at Burger King probably have no reason to worry that the unconventional name might deter customers, especially since feedback has already been largely positive. Would you be willing to try one of these uniquely named creations?
