Bill Cosby Walks A Tightrope, Carries Jimmy Fallon In ‘Tonight Show’ Visit

Bill Cosby is one of the most popular impersonations for comedians, with his signature mannerisms and mumbling delivery, so when the 76-year-old actor paid a visit to the Tonight Show host and master mimic Jimmy Fallon couldn’t help giving his impression a whirl.

The exchange made for some exciting television, with Jimmy Fallon doing a Bill Cosby impression right to Cosby’s face.

“I can’t help but talk like you when I talk to you,” Fallon told his guest. “‘Cause when I talk to you… I… slow… ev-ery-thing… down.”

Fallon upped his game a bit from there, bursting into a dance right out of the Cosby Show opening sequence. This prompted Cosby to make the universal “cut” sign by running his finger across his neck and then walk away in mock disgust.

“Bill, don’t leave,” Fallon pleaded with the comedian. “Don’t be upset.”

But Bill Cosby came back, and even added a bit of theatrics of his own. Cosby took a pole and walked across a line on the stage, a half-hearted attempt to replicate daredevils like Nik Walenda in his tightrope walk across Niagara Falls.

“I don’t understand why in life, with all the jobs people do, you would want to now have the Falls beneath you,” Cosby said he started the walk, and then two steps later lost his balance and stepped off the line. Fallon then jumped onto Cosby’s back and was carried away to end the segment.

Even in his older age, Bill Cosby has remained very involved in comedy and his career. In the past year he’s worked on a pilot for NBC that would make him the head of a multi-generational family and will focus on his beliefs on marriage and parenting:

“They would like to see a married couple that acts like they love each other, warts and all, children who respect the parenting, and the comedy of people who make mistakes,” said producer Tom Werner. ‘Warmth and forgiveness. So I hope to get that opportunity, and I will deliver the best of Cosby.”
