Justin Bieber was exiting the Macy’s Herald Square store in New York City on Thursday after debuting his “Someday” perfume when a man jumped over a security barrier and knocked the teen heartthrob to the ground.
Bieber’s reps said after the attack that he was “shaken up” but otherwise okay.
While Bieber was uninjured in the attack, in all of the confusion one of his security guards took a swing at another man who happened to be a plain clothes police officer.
The guard who swung at the officer was removed from the scene and promptly issued a summons for disorderly conduct.
One of the star’s reps told PEOPLE:
“This was a momentary, well-intentioned misunderstanding that was quickly resolved, and the event went very well.”
We’re glad Bieber is okay but given his rabid fan base I would suggest that the attacker stay away from tween and teen girls who may be out for revenge.
