In a recently interview with AllThingsD, Nintendo president Satoru Iwata wanted it to be known that his company has absolutely no plans whatsoever to over free games on social networks, mobile devices and through other console types. According to Iwata freemium content ultimately devalues a company’s content offerings and leads to games of lesser quality.

Summarizing his comments he says that freemium content is not in the works for the company unless they can find a way to put a “unique spin” on the content.

Continuing with that way of thinking Iwata also says that his company will never develop their proprietary games such as Mario, Zelda and Metroid for other platforms, the same statement Sega made before dropping their console systems in favor of game development on other platforms.
