The “Biggest Loser” Rachel Frederickson shocked audiences across the nation on Tuesday night, some calling her too thin, when she appeared on the show’s finale. NBC ‘s show all about weight loss and overcoming impossible odds often leaves viewers encouraged and inspired. But the winner of Biggest Loser , Rachel Frederickson, managed to confuse and bewilder.

Winning $250,000 over the other final three contestants, David Brown and Bobby Saleem, she weighed in at a stunning 105 pounds. She started the show at 260 pounds losing 59.62% of her total body weight. As she walked onto the stage to reveal her final body shape to the world, the trainers’ faces said it all.

Rachel Frederickson, 24, is a former high school swimmer who gave up her dreams of pursuing a swimming career to follow a boyfriend to Europe. When the relationship ended, she went into a downward spiral of depression . She was a favorite all season on the Biggest Loser , as she represented women everywhere who want to get their lives back. Considered one of the more intense competitors, she showed the determination and hard work one would expect from an athlete.

But Biggest Loser Rachel Frederickson didn’t inspired everyone. Some were not only critical of her, but also producers, doctors, and trainers who were involved. Although her height is not publicly known, estimates have her between 5’4? and 5’7?. Many believe that someone should have gotten involved to let her know that she was getting too thin.

Ultimately the question is, should we be excited for her transformation or concerned about the message the show sends when their winner is obviously too thin? The Biggest Loser has had its critics throughout the years, mainly because of the danger of pushing people so far in such a short time frame. It produces results, but is it best in the long run?

Rachel Frederickson seems happy with her transformation. She told US Weekly , “I started as a [size] 20 and now I’m a 0/2. I was a 6 during makeover week. It’s all about maintaining now!”
