The rumors may have outed this one several months ago, but that shouldn’t stop fans of Halo from being excited by this news. During Microsoft’s E3 2011 press conference, Microsoft announced Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary .
Anniversary is not just a re-release of the original Halo with upscaled graphics – it’s a proper remake, complete with redone art assets, remastered sound and a shiny new coat of paint. The rumors suggested that the remake would be done using the Halo: Reach engine, but whether that’s true or not is unknown at this point.
Fans of Halo: Combat Evolved ‘s multiplayer will be pleased to know that all of the classic maps be (faithfully) recreated for Anniversary , but there’s a catch: Halo: Combat Evolved does not include Xbox Live competitive multiplayer. Instead, the maps will be used in Halo: Reach .
If you’re more of the campaign type, the announcement trailer also revealed that the game will support campaign co-op over Xbox Live, although it isn’t known just how many can play at once.
