Dwight Howard Plays 1-On-1 Against Young Boy During Rain Delay, Shows No Mercy

Dwight Howard found a way to stay loose during a rare NBA rain delay against the Washington Wizards, playing a little 1-on-1 with a young fan and showing the adolescent boy no mercy.

In a video posted by NBA.com , the Houston Rockets forward is seen backing down the young boy, who looked to give up more than two feet and 200 pounds to Howard.

Dwight Howard then caught an alley-oop in the boy’s face, dunked on him another time, and even rejected the young boy’s soft attempt at a shot.

Though the description may sound brutal, in reality it was Dwight Howard just having some fun with the boy and trying to keep the fans entertained during the delay in the game. The delay was caused by a leak in the roof in the Verizon Center in Washington, which allowed some water to collect on the floor.

The game was stooped for 35 minutes in the first half, and after a while the players started taking shots to get loose. They fired passes along the floor and lobbed some alley-oops to Howard , when he wasn’t matching up with the young fan, that is.

“I just didn’t like it for the fans,” Howard said. “I know they wanted to see a good show. They had to wait a while. I didn’t like that. I’m glad we were able to play, finish the game.”

The 1-on-1 game between Dwight Howard and the young fan would be just the start of a wild game. There ended up being two rain stoppages in total, and when play finally resumed Howard and the Rockets seized control. But later one they blew a 25-point lead, then came back from five points down in the fourth quarter to win 114-107 .

“The craziest game ever?” Howard said. “Yeah, I would say that.”

The young fan would likely say the same of his 1-on-1 game with Dwight Howard.
