The Hunger Games: Mockingjay , the third installment in the box-office-topping, dystopian action movie series, resumed filming Thursday at Caldwell Tanks, a large manufacturing facility in Newnan, Georgia, about 30 miles southwest of Atlanta.
At the same time, a leaked on-set video of what appears to be a major action scene from the upcoming film appeared on the internet. The clip can be viewed above.
Shooting on the certain-to-be blockbuster starring Jennifer Lawrence paused on December 20 in Newnan after only two days on a set that had been under construction since early November, according to the Newnan Times-Herald . It was not known how long filming of The Hunger Games at the current location will last.
The set is closed to the public.
The scene in the leaked clip was shot in the lobby of Atlanta’s Marriot Marquis hotel, according to Yahoo! UK . The scene appears to one in which the character Peeta is rescued, and it shows three characters from The Hunger Games — presumably played by stunt performers in this shot — being lowered on ropes from the ceiling of the expansive hotel lobby.
The film’s large production crew is clearly visible in the video. It remains unknown who shot the clip, apparently on a cell phone. Such film sets are usually closed to the public.
Mockingjay was the third and final novel of the Hunger Games trilogy by Suzanne Collins. Unlike the first two installments in the Hunger Games movie series, this one will vary somewhat from the book.
In fact, the story of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay will be divided into two separate films, turning the literary trilogy into a four-part film series. Director Francis Lawrence has said that the first installment will include new story material not included in Collins’ novel.
Part one of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay has already been called the “ most anticipated film of 2014 ” in a Fandango poll. The movie is scheduled for release on November 21.
The current installment, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire , was released on November 22 of last year and has already topped the $400 million mark at the box office.
