A 90 year old man in Dayton, OH stopped an attempted robbery with his gun this week. George Hicks, 90, was in the back room of the R & J laundromat, when a hooded man came asking for change.
The man pushed his way into the room and told Hicks to give him his money. That’s when Hicks decided to take matters into his own hands. The 911 transcript tells what happened next.
911 Dispatcher: “Did he take any money?”
Hicks: “No. No. When he shoved me, I jumped up and went for my gun and when I went for my gun ‘I said I’ll blow your (expletive) brains out’ and he was gone.”
This was not the first time that the Dayton store owner had been attacked in his laundromat. Back in 2010, Hicks was assaulted and robbed by a man who brutally beat him. Hicks says that the attacker threw him to the floor and began kicking him. He received stitches and needed medical treatment for the injuries. That’s when he decided to begin carrying a gun.

The R&J Laundromat owned by Hicks is in an area of Dayton that sees storeowners robbed quite often. In this case, the 90 year old man’s gun may have saved his life.
