Bruno Mars has been added to the lineup for the 2014 Brit Awards.
Also added to the lineup are British bands Bastille and Rudimental, marking their first time performing at the Brits.
The three new acts join Arctic Monkeys and Katy Perry on the list of performers for the awards ceremony, which will take place at London’s O2 Arena on February 19.
Actor and comedian James Corden will return as host for the third year in a row, although this will be final year. The 35-year-old also co-hosted the awards ceremony in 2009 with Kylie Minogue and Mathew Horne.
“I really love the Brits. I’m such a fan,” Corden said. “I’ll miss not doing it after this one, but fully intend to enjoy every second of Brits 2014.”
Bruno Mars recently performed at the MTV Europe Music Awards in Amsterdam, where he was nominated for three awards. He won Best Song for “Locked Out of Heaven,” the lead single from his second studio album, Unorthodox Jukebox .
Mars was recently named Billboard ‘s Artist of the Year . “Locked Out of Heaven” topped the Billboard Hot 100 for six consecutive weeks and charted inside the top 10 in over 20 countries. The second single, “When I Was Your Man,” also peaked at number one, and “Treasure” peaked at number five. The album is nominated for Best Pop Vocal Album at the 56th Grammy Awards.
In the Billboard cover story, Mars’ manager Brandon Creed explained the 28-year-old’s ascension in the last 14 months.
“We definitely had goals going into this project to support the artist, his music and performance,” Creed said. “But we tried to do everything for a purpose, nothing gratuitous. And we’re continuing to lay and build the foundation for him to evolve musically and continue to connect with the audience.”
It doesn’t look like Bruno Mars will be slowing down anytime soon. He’ll be doing a two-day residency at the Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas on December 29 and December 31, and then he’ll head to the Grammys on January 26, 2014. After that, he’ll resume his world tour on February 28 with 10 dates in Australia and New Zealand. He’ll move on to Asia, beginning March 20 in Bangkok, and then to Mexico City on September 2.
