A Texas A&M stadium fall left a construction worker dead on Tuesday when he plummeted from the fourth level while working on renovations.

The worker, 25-year-old Angel Garcia, was working on the north end of the football stadium at Texas A&M University when he fell, university officials said.

Garcia was pronounced dead at the hospital after the Texas A&M stadium fall. He was reportedly an employee of Lindamood Demolition, one of the firms working on the massive renovation project.

The stadium is in the midst of a $450 million renovation that would expand its seating capacity to 102,000, making it one of the five largest college stadiums in the nation. Kyle Field currently seats 82,589, making it the No. 17 stadium in the nation.

Construction started after the team’s final home game of the season, a 51-41 win over Mississippi State.

After the Texas A&M stadium fall, the university released a statement lamenting the tragedy.

“On behalf of Texas A&M University and the extended Aggie family I offer our deepest sympathy to the family of the construction worker who tragically passed away,” university President R. Bowen Loftin said in a statement.

There have been a handful of deaths at athletic stadiums in the past year, most of them fans. In September a San Francisco 49ers fan fell to is death outside Candlestick Park. Police said the man appeared to be severely intoxicated before falling from an overpass to a sidewalk below.

An Atlanta Braves fan also died earlier this year after falling from the upper-deck, and last year another fan fell to his death at Reliant Stadium after watching the Houston Texans play .

The Texas A&M stadium fall is under investigation from the US Occupational Safety and Health Administration, the Texas A&M University System, and university police.
