2010 NFL Draft one year later: Philadelphia Eagles

The Philadelphia Eagles were coming off a playoff berth one year ago, and they did not have many glaring needs so they used a slew of draft day trades to wind up with 13 picks. They moved up and down, and for the most part delivered a very strong draft class. Even with injuries, which happen to all, this class kept most of its shine.

Here is a quick look at the 2010 Eagles draft class:

  • Round One- DE Brandon Graham
  • Round Two- S Nate Allen
  • Round Three- DE Daniel Te’o-Nesheim
  • Round Four- DB Trevard Lindley
  • Round Four- LB Keenan Clayton
  • Round Four- QB Mike Kafka
  • Round Four- TE Clay Harbor
  • Round Five- DE Ricky Sapp
  • Round Five- WR Riley Cooper
  • Round Six- RB Charles Scott
  • Round Seven- LB Jamar Chaney
  • Round Seven- DT Jeff Owens
  • Round Seven- FS Kurt Coleman

So I year ago I was very high on this drat class especially their first two selections. Both Graham and Allen were starters when they went down with injuries and both look to be mainstays on the Eagle defense. Neisham saw limited action, and Lindley did well when called upon. Even though this was a quantity over quality draft the Eagles seemed to have picked up a ton of legit NFL talent. They might not all be starters, but they all seem to have quality roles even as backups or special teams players.

Allen still stands out as the best pick made by this team, but the fact that 12 of these men still are on the Eagles roster says a lot. This team went out and found a ton of guys that may not be big time names, but were guys who fit the roles that needed to be filled on a pretty good football team. However since they moved up 11 spots to pick Graham they are essentially drafting in the same position they did a year ago. That is great consistency, but they need a guy who can get them over the hump.
