Scandal star Kerry Washington is pregnant with her first child, according to several reports published on Wednesday. Washington tied the knot with 49ers player Nnamdi Asomugha earlier this summer.
Despite her fame on TV, Washington is a private person, making it no surprise that the actress hasn’t confirmed or denied the reports about her pregnancy.
Us Weekly claimed an exclusive on Washington’s baby news, citing an unnamed friend of the TV star. According to the actress’ pal, the mom-to-be is about four months along.
If the news is true, it will be the first child for Washington and Asomugha, who were married in secret on June 24 in Hailey, Idaho. According to reports, the couple has dated since the summer of 2012.
Glamour magazine asked Washington about her secret wedding for its September issue, and the actress was willing to part with a bit of information. She explained that the wedding was private because she “learned through experience” that talking about her personal life with the press just “doesn’t work for her.” She explained:
“I’ve had earlier times in my career when I did talk about it. But I couldn’t just turn around and say, ‘I only want to talk about the good stuff, but not the bad stuff.’ So I just thought, ‘Okay, no more.’ ”
But that doesn’t mean Kerry Washington intends on keeping everything secret , notes the New York Daily News . She wears her wedding ring in public, and thanks people who congratulate her on her marriage. However, we don’t expect her to announce any personal news on social media or through the press.
Instead, like Washington explained, “… I’m going to continue to not talk about it and just let it unfold.” A rep for Kerry Washington has yet to confirm or deny the news of the star’s pregnancy.
