Katharine McPhee, star of the musical drama television series Smash , was spotted kissing a director of the show, Michael Morris. The only problem is that both McPhee and Morris are, um, married… well, kind of.
An inside source told People Magazine that, for her part at least, McPhee is separated from her husband: “She and her husband are separated for over six months, since early this year. They haven’t been living together,” they said.
She is officially still married to Nick Cokas, who is also her manager, (and 18 years older than her!) Morris is married himself to actress Mary McCormack. The couple have three young daughters.
So it seems that our Smash star, Katharine McPhee, can at least get away with the kiss, having been separated from her husband for a while.
On the other hand, according to sources: “Mary adores her husband. If this is true, she would have been blindsided. She is the most devoted mother and wife.”
According to TMZ , who were the first to post the picture, McPhee and Morris were seen holding hands and cuddling just before photographers snapped the controversial pic.
The same source spoke to People Magazine about their perception of the relationship between McPhee and her husband: “I never noticed anything with Kat and the director on set at the time… I do remember Kat’s husband was always around and was very controlling.”
