The Philadelphia Eagles were very aggressive on draft day, they moved around for each of their first four selections, and ended up with 13 selections over the seven rounds of the 2010 NFL Draft. In teh first round they felt the need to move up 11 spots and get DE Brandon Graham. They were in love with this player, and to be perfectly honest he was my favorite DE prospect in this draft. They will pair him with Trent Cole, and both are the same kind of player, a tad undersized, but with a high motor and they both have a knack for getting after opposing QB’s.
Most Draft pundits are calling the second round pick (37th overall) of S Nate Allen the best pick of the Eagles 13 2010 draft picks. This is a team that never found an adequate replacement for Brian Dawkins, and they expect Allen to step in and contribute from day one. Allen may not be a big hitter, but he has excellent coverage skills and he brings an immediate upgrade to the Eagles secondary.
The rest of this draft was used finding depth guys and quality special teams players. They also found a QB project in Mike Kafka from Northwestern. With all that being said here are the Eagles 2010 Draft class initial grades:
• Round One – A, Graham is a fine player with a good character • Round Two – A, Allen upgrades teh secondary •Need- A-, they could have used one of their 13 picks to find some help on the O line •Talent, A they have brought in five defensive players with 80 some career sacks in college •Average- A-
