Valeria Lukyanova, also known as the “Human Barbie,” has a “plastic and fantastic” twin .
Twenty-four-year-old Olga Oleynik — who goes by the name “Dominika” — hails from Odessa, the fifth largest city in the Ukraine and the hometown of her mentor.
“We met on the Internet five years ago,” Lukyanova said. “We were curious about our similarities. We had the same hairstyle, make-up, and even dressed in a similar way. Our friends were sure that we were blood sisters.”
The two aren’t related, at least not biologically.
“We are really sisters — but only in a spiritual way,” Lukyanova said. “We have the same outlook and lifestyle.”
Lukyanova and Oleynik have been holding lectures on spirituality for around $100 a session. They said they use their looks to lure participants. The two are also planning to leave the Ukraine.
“We are planning to move to America soon,” Lukyanova said. “Dominika’s boyfriend is living in the U.S. and my husband wants to start a business there too. I am not going to be bored abroad, I’m often invited to photo-shoots and parties.”
Lukyanova has been criticized for starting an epidemic of young girls trying to look like Barbie dolls. She has also been accused of using Photoshop to create her look.
“ Many people say bad things about people who want to perfect themselves,” Lukyanova said. “It’s hard work, but they dismiss it as something done by surgeons or computer artists. … But I don’t take them seriously. I’m even flattered! It’s what success is like. I’m happy I seem unreal to them, it means I’m doing a good job.”
