Portland, OR — Country singer k.d. lang recently bought a Portland condo for $639,000 .
The singer bought two adjoining units and combined them into one 2,000 square foot apartment. The space has two bedrooms, two baths, and a den. The floors are made of birch, and the ceilings are exposed concrete. There are also floor-to-ceiling windows and a landscaped patio.
The 51-year-old sold her L.A. home to Maroon 5’s Jesse Carmichael for a little less than $1.9 million.
The Canadian-born award winner split from her domestic partner , Jamie Price, after almost a decade in January. She cited “irreconcilable differences.”
Broadway star Cheyenne Jackson, who is currently playing a porn star named Mandrew in The Performers , admitted that Lang was her singer obsession and called her “perfection.”
k.d. lang was born Kathryn Dawn Lang on November 2, 1961. She has won both Juno awards and Grammy awards in her nearly 20-year career. She was inspired by poet e.e. cummings to spell her name with lower case letters.
She was made an Officer of the Order of Canada in 1996. It is the second highest honor for merit in the country, the first being the Order of Merit. The Order recognizes the achievement of outstanding merit or distinguished service by Canadians who have made a major difference to the country through lifelong contributions.
In June 2008, it was announced that she would receive a star on Canada’s Walk of Fame.
Lang came out as a lesbian in 1992 and has championed gay rights causes ever since. She is also an animal rights activist.
