They have been onscreen love interests in a total of four movies to date. Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper clearly are meant for one another on the big screen, and Cooper does not hesitate to admit his level of comfort with his film wife, Jen. During an interview with Deadline , Bradley chatted about his talented and beautiful co-star Lawrence, noting their “natural” connection during filming.
“I wonder if these guys who do Dancing With The Stars like have a connection forever. I really do think that really provided the basis by which [Jen and I] can just work together. We don’t talk often, but when I showed up in Boston for Joy, then all of a sudden it was like we never stopped. We just started where we left off, and that’s rare. It’s just easy to look at her and feel like I’m telling the truth.’
As the Daily Mail recounts, Cooper did admit that although he feels that Jen is a natural fit for him onscreen, he rarely keeps in touch with his onscreen wife once filming is through. The 40-year-old is enjoying a new romance with Irina Shayk so therefore is a bit distant from Lawrence between jobs they’ve worked on as a couple.
Such films include Silver Linings Playbook , American Hustle , Serena and most recently, the movie Joy , which opens on Christmas Day. The publication shares that the soon-to-be-released film ” tells the exciting story of a struggling single mother who invents a mop, which leads her to becoming president of her own company.”

The film marks the third time Lawrence has worked under the direction of David O. Russell, and the film has already got an Oscar buzz going after Jen’s portrayal of the Miracle Mop inventor has already gotten her nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Actress.
As for Cooper’s role in the film, the actor was not entirely keen on the part within Joy and wondered if he was really the right guy for the job. Deadline relays Bradley’s words on the subject.
“We had discussions about this guy and whether I was right for the role, but [Russell] saw something in me I didn’t think was there. I thought that an older actor would have been much better suited and actually I remember we were talking about it in the lobby of the Greenwich Hotel when one of the actors I was pitching to him walked through the lobby. It was pretty funny.”
Within Joy , unlike the previous films that Lawrence and Cooper have worked on, the pair are not portraying a love interest for one another. Cooper did admit that he was attracted to this change in relationship with Jen’s character. Cooper shares a bit about his admiration for the relationship Joy and his own character, Neil Walker, do have, which is all supportive and business.
“I’m glad [Joy/Lawrence] found [Neil/Cooper] because he’s somebody who believes in her. By the way, that was really fun to play. And it was all real. You know, there was a guy who gave Joy a chance and she was the first at doing a spokesperson at QVC. It all happened.”
Bradley admits that there wasn’t much research to do for his character in Joy , as he has done for previous roles, such as American Sniper . As noted, the film will hit theaters on Christmas Day, and although it has been criticized for being a bit far removed from Russell’s previous triumphs such as American Hustle and Silver Linings Playbook , it is sure to gain praise for the interesting intertwining plots and inspirational journey that Joy embarks on.
