Hulk Hogan spoke publicly for the first time since being terminated by the WWE on July 24. His appearance on Good Morning America this morning shed some light on his state during the sex tape and his use of racial language. The former WWE champion earlier this week that he still loves the WWE, but from another perspective, it isn’t likely Hogan will be back in the WWE.
To totally encapsulate his interview on Good Morning America , here are the highlights from this morning.
His WWE career:
“Everything I’ve done in my whole career, my whole life, it’s like it never happened.”
On his fans feeling betrayed:
“Please forgive me. Please forgive me.”
Recollecting on racist remarks:
“Just because a person makes a mistake you don’t throw them away. You don’t throw good people away. If everybody at their lowest point was judged on one thing they said and all of a sudden your whole career was wiped out today because of something you said 10 or 20 years ago, it would be a sad world. People get better everyday. People get better.”
Hulk Hogan’s life during sex tape and racist remarks:
“Out of everything that I’ve been through, this one hit me probably the hardest. I was at the lowest point of my life. To the point where I wanted to kill myself. I was very mad at my daughter… for really, no reason. I was upset over a situation that happened between her and her boyfriend and I had no idea I was being taped. I’m not a racist. I never should have said what I said. It was wrong. I’m embarrassed by it, but a lot of people need to realize [that] you inherit things from your environment. Where I grew up was south Tampa and it was a really rough neighborhood [with a] very low income and all of my friends… we greeted each other saying that word. The word was just thrown around like it was nothing.”
It’s easy to tell that Hulk Hogan is very apathetic at this time. In the last several weeks, Hogan’s been public about his yearning for a WWE return. He is still training every day, just in case that WrestleMania 32 match comes back into play. Before the termination and public outcry for Hogan’s release, he was rumored to have that WrestleMania match. This also won’t be the last interview from the Hulkster, as he is supposed to appear on Nightline in the coming weeks.
