When we heard that Jay-Z and Beyonce were having a child together we immediately assumed the next spoiled brat of Hollywood was on the way, when we found out little Blue Ivy Carter was given a $5,200 baby tub, a Swarovski crystal-studded high chair and a silver TIffany hair brush our minds were made up. Now it turns out someone else thinks little Blue Ivy will be a spoiled Hollywood terror, her dad.
Jay-Z spoke with Oprah on Oprah’s Master Class recently when he said:
“Everyone imagines they’ll be a great dad. I imagine I’ll take things I learned from my mom and things I’ve learned from raising my nephews and apply that.” Even so, “at the end of the day, I just know I’ll probably have the worst, spoiled little kid ever.”
With that type of ringing endorsement from daddy-Z it might be up to Beyonce to ground her child in a bit of real world reality. Beyonce admits that she often does her own hair and makeup, that is not to say such a practice makes her grounded in real world values but at least she might be able to show Blue Ivy a little bit of humility.
According to Beyonce:
“My biggest thing is to teach [Blue] not to focus on the aesthetic. It’s really about who you are, and the human being, that makes you beautiful.”
There may be one thing going in Blue Ivy’s favor, her parents are arguably two of the hardest working figures in the world of music and fashion, perhaps that work ethic will also rub off on Blue Ivy Carter.
