Cara Delevingne is again single, having reportedly split from girlfriend St. Vincent, also known as Anne Erin “Annie” Clark.
The break-up comes only after Cara has spent recent months defending herself against critics insisting that Ms. Delevingne was “just going through a phase” as far as the relationship with St. Vincent was concerned.
“I think that being in love with my girlfriend is a big part of why I’m feeling so happy with who I am these days,” Ms. Delevingne said in a July interview . “And for those words to come out of my mouth is actually a miracle.”
Cara has admitted that she struggled with her sexuality throughout her teen years, so, finding herself involved in a committed relationship was something new for Ms. Delevingne.
“It took me a long time to accept the idea, until I first fell in love with a girl at 20 and recognized that I had to accept it… Women are what completely inspire me, and they have also been my downfall.”
Cara Delevingne does describe her orientation as bisexual, but the model-turned-actress has said that she would find it difficult to date men. Cara feels certain that any male love interest would soon date her, because, according to Cara, they would soon realize she’s “a whole bunch of crazy.”
“The thing is, if I ever found a guy I could fall in love with, I’d want to marry him and have his children,” Delevingne said . “And that scares me to death because I think I’m a whole bunch of crazy, and I always worry that a guy will walk away once he really, truly knows me.”
In her most recent interviews, Cara has clearly stated her sexual orientation, responding to a previous story in which the writer insisted that Ms. Delevingne’s interest was just a phase she was going through and would soon lose interest in dating women.
“My sexuality is not a phase. I am who I am.”
While it is still early and every possibility exists that St. Vincent and Cara may reunite, it also seems that the advantage of being newly single will help Ms. Delevingne’s critics to see that she has committed to a bisexual lifestyle and that the idea of going through a phase may only have been wishful thinking on the behalf of Cara’s parents.
