Ray McDonald, arrested again for the second time this week, must be trying to set a new record. And, no, not for football. The former NFL lineman seems to be going for the most arrests in one week.

As the Inquisitr previously reported , McDonald was arrested over the Memorial Day weekend on domestic violence charges. The authorities arrested Ray at approximately 7 a.m. local time on Monday, May 25 in San Jose. He was booked at the Santa Clara County Jail and was charged with misdemeanor domestic violence and child endangerment, according to ESPN.

According to the police, Ray allegedly “physically assaulted the victim while she was holding a baby.” The authorities were called to a home in Santa Clara, but McDonald had already left. He was found at another home in the city approximately three hours later. That home is reportedly owned by his ex-49ers teammate Justin Smith.

Following the incident, a restraining order was issued for the former Chicago Bears defensive end, which he allegedly violated on Wednesday, leading to the second arrest. Fox News reports that Ray McDonald was picked up by the Santa Clara Police Department at a Togo’s Sandwiches in Santa Clara without incident after he reportedly entered a Santa Clara residence.

McDonald’s attorney, Steve Defilippis, said Ray was never issued a restraining order and was simply told to stay away from the woman. He also noted that Ray was told the woman would not be there when he entered the home, according to ESPN.

“Today my investigator contacted her and confirmed that she was in Santa Cruz,” Defilippis said, “and Ray went over to the apartment to meet the investigator to let him in so that he could get photographs of this allegedly broken door, and lo and behold the cops show up and arrest him.”

The Chicago Bears have since released McDonald from the team. They released a statement Monday afternoon concerning Ray’s arrest, according to the New York Times .

“We believe in second chances, but when we signed Ray, we were very clear what our expectations were if he was to remain a Bear,” General Manager Ryan Pace said in the statement. “He was not able to meet the standard, and the decision was made to release him.”
