#EggplantFriday Hashtag Banned On Instagram As TMZ Suggests #FreeTheEggplant Twitter Response

Well, if you’re a chef, you might think the #EggplantFriday hashtag that was growing in popularity on Instagram was actually about eggplants, the veggie variety. But no, the #EggplantFriday hashtag – which has now been banned on Instagram, reports TMZ – has a whole ‘nother fruit in mind.

Blame Instagram users like B.o.B. for making the #EggplantFriday hashtag popular in the first place after posting a pic of himself standing in sweatpants in the kitchen next to eggplants, with only the #EggplantFriday hashtag as a caption — and blame TMZ for any #FreeTheEggplant hash-tagged responses. Instagram hasn’t yet told TMZ why they banned #EggplantFriday, but one look at the covered-and-yet-still-salacious d*&k pics attached to those #EggplantFriday hashtags, and we can figure it out ourselves.

As reported by the Inquisitr , Chelsea Handler has made it her mission to fight Instagram over topless pics of her that they’ve removed – and obviously Instagram is taking steps to prevent their social media site from becoming one big porn stream, and this reporter applauds Instagram for that fact. After all, there are kids on Instagram who love using social media to share their artwork or other innocent fare, and none of them need to come across #EggplantFriday fare. Heck, even I, a 45-year-old woman, don’t need to stare at #EggplantFriday pics all day, nor would I necessarily want to do so, seeing as though men are generally the ones more visual than women when it comes to that type of thing – although apparently because of the popularity of the #EggplantFriday hashtag, enough females were loving it to make it part of the lexicon. (Now I know why one woman kept referring to wieners as eggplants this week.)

Meanwhile, this writer won’t even link to the #EggplantFriday hashtag on Twitter, because the first pic I just saw wasn’t even a covered up eggplant, but one in its full and raw form. Like VH1 reported, taking a stroll through the #EggplantFriday hashtags on Instagram might make folks want to wash their eyes out with holy water afterward.

Forget #EggplantFriday and #FreeTheEggplant hashtags, even though I see one person thus far has availed themselves of the #FreeTheEggplant hashtag, you’ve got to wonder how long Instagram will let the #FreeTheEggplant hashtag ride before shutting that one down, too. Let’s focus on other hashtags like #OscarsSoWhite, #digitallife, #love, or #JeSuisCharlie instead, which let us know more about the world around us.
