The passing of Joe Cocker continues to rock the music industry and Hollywood. Everyone from Paul McCartney to Hugh Laurie to Miles Teller reacted to the legendary Blues singer’s death on Twitter. Laurie drummed up some of his quirky humor to commemorate the musician while Ricky Gervais left his humor for another occasion to mourn Cocker.

Oh god. Joe Cocker. The world now feels like a two-legged table.

RIP the mighty Joe Cocker. — Ricky Gervais (@rickygervais) December 22, 2014

Whiplash actor Miles Teller, who is a musician himself, tweeted about Cocker’s death as well.

Oh no I just read Joe Cocker passed away. RIP mad dog I wish I could’ve seen your brilliance live, you are as iconic as they come.

What might be the most significant remembrance comes from The Beatles’ Paul McCartney . His statement about Joe Cocker, who covered The Beatles’ famous song “With A Little Help From My Friends,” was released on his personal blog.

“It’s really sad to hear about Joe’s passing. He was a lovely northern lad who I loved a lot and like many people I loved his singing. I was especially pleased when he decided to cover ‘With A Little Help From My Friends’ and I remember him and Denny Cordell coming round to the studio in Saville Row and playing me what they’d recorded and it was just mind blowing, totally turned the song into a soul anthem and I was forever grateful to him for doing that.”

“I knew him through the years as a good mate and I was so sad to hear that he had been ill and really sad to hear today that he had passed away. He was a great guy, a lovely guy who brought so much to the world and we’ll all miss him.”

As the Inquisitr reported, Joe Cocker passed away at the age of 70 from an ongoing battle with lung cancer. His agent Barrie Marshall called the singer “simply unique.”

Cocker’s career spanned 19 Billboard hits. Chart toppers like “You Are So Beautiful,” “The Letter,” and “Feeling Alright” earned Cocker his legacy, along with his superb Beatles cover “With a Little Help from My Friends.” His single “Up Where We Belong” with Jennifer Warnes earned the crooner a Grammy back in 1983. One of his most notable performances happened in 1969 at the Woodstock Festival.

In 2007, Cocker was inducted into Sheffield’s Hall of Fame and pressure is mounting to finally include Joe Cocker in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
