28-year-old rapper Barry Reese, better known as Cassidy, was arrested over the weekend in Hackensack on a parole violation.
Cassidy was wanted by police in Philly, and is suspected in one murder and two attempted murders. According to AllHipHop.com, the rapper was paroled a few years back after serving time in prison:
In 2006, Cassidy was released from prison after serving 8 months in prison for being convicted of involuntary manslaughter, over a wild shootout in West Oak Lane.
Philly police told cops in Hackensack that the bust was on a “high-risk warrant,” and said to assume “this person [was] armed and dangerous.” Hackensack police Lt. Timothy Lloyd described the operation leading up to Cassidy’s arrest Saturday:
Reese left his house about 1:30 p.m. and was followed by police to a local convenience store, Lloyd said.
An undercover ERT officer went in the store and positively identified Reese, he said.
When Reese came out of the store, “the ERT units moved in and conducted a felony motor vehicle stop,” Lloyd said.
Reese “was very surprised,” Lloyd said. The officers who arrested the rapper “did an outstanding job,” he said. “Without the proper teamwork going on, this could have spiraled out of control quickly.”
Cassidy is currently awaiting extradition to Philadelphia.
