Zayn Malik and Perrie Edwards have split after being together for around half a decade. Zayn was dogged by cheating rumors throughout their relationship, but Perrie stood by her man through it all. Sadly, Zayn decided to repay his loyal fiancee by dumping her.
PEOPLE broke the big break up news Tuesday morning, and the mag reports that poor Perrie is “devastated.” She and Zayn Malik have been engaged since August 2013, and it sounds like Perrie Edwards was shocked by Zayn’s sudden decision to call off their engagement two weeks ago. A source revealed that Perrie has been struggling to hide her sadness while she and her Little Mix bandmates promote their new single, “Black Magic.”
“Perrie’s being supported by her bandmates, but she’s really in pieces about this.”
Liam Payne claimed that one of the main reasons Zayn Malik left One Direction was so that he could spend more time with Perrie Edwards. According to E! Online , Zayn also released a statement saying that he decided to leave the band because wanted “to be a normal 22-year-old who is able to relax and have some private time out of the spotlight.” However, now it looks like Zayn will be devoting most of his time on working on his new career as a solo artist . Perhaps he decided to dump Perrie because he didn’t feel like he would be able to give her the attention she deserves now that he’s going to be so busy.
Back in May, the Inquisitr reported that Perrie Edwards admitted that she was too busy to plan their wedding . She also revealed that she enjoyed getting to spend more time with Zayn Malik after his split from One Direction. However, it’s possible that playing house has made Zayn a bit restless — he might actually miss getting to party with his One Direction band mates while the group tours the globe. During one of the band’s nights out in Thailand earlier this year, Zayn was photographed holding hands with a girl named Lauren Richardson. The photo led to speculation that he was cheating on Perrie — which Zayn denied — and he quit One Direction shortly after the picture surfaced.
The Sun reports that Zayn Malik was linked to other women while he was with Perrie Edwards. After dating the Little Mix singer for a year, he allegedly cheated on her by spending the night with a girl named CJ. A Swedish woman named Martina Olsson also claimed that Zayn cheated on Perrie by sleeping with her twice.
Unfortunately, there’s no word on what Zayn plans on doing about his huge Perrie tattoo now that he’s single, and Perrie hasn’t revealed whether she’s returned her engagement ring to Zayn.
