With the release of Infinite Warfare around the corner, Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 is finally wrapping up its DLC releases. Activision announced Salvation as the fourth and final add-on Thursday for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC shooter. It not only brings an end to the add-ons for the title, but also to Treyarch’s Zombies saga featuring Richtofen, Dempsey, Takeo, and Nikolai.

Salvation will be released on the PlayStation 4 first on September 6. As per usual, the Xbox One and PC release will arrive approximately one month later. The DLC pack costs $15 by itself, but it is available for no extra cost as part of the $50 Season Pass, which bundles together all four add-ons.

The highlight of Black Ops 3 ‘s Salvation DLC is undoubtedly the conclusion to the Origins Zombies saga. The final chapter is titled Revelations and brings the four main characters to The House where they finally come face to face with the mysterious Doctor Monty, who has the voice and likeness of Malcolm McDowell ( A Clockwork Orange , Heroes ).

Richtofen, Dempsey, Takeo, and Nikolai finally take on the Shadow Man seen in the Shadow of Evil and the evil antagonist driving things behind the scenes. The Apothicon releases his fellow evil beings into the realm of The House along with a new zombie horde to fight in an extremely trippy set piece.

“Without a doubt, this is the most epic season of DLC that we’ve ever created for fans of Multiplayer and Zombies,” said Mark Lamia, the Studio Head of Treyarch. “At this point it goes without saying, that Zombies has been a true labor of love for the studio, and I’m proud to say that this will be a defining and epic experience for the fans who have joined us over the last 8 years.”

“With the release of Zombies as an Easter Egg in 2008’s Call of Duty: World at War , Treyarch set forth on a journey – or, really a conversation – with fans, and Revelations is the final punctuation mark,” said Jason Blundell, the Director of Zombies at Treyarch. “The secrets we laid out years ago will finally make sense – we’ve been waiting a long time for this.”

Naturally, there are four new multiplayer maps included with the Salvation DLC for Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 . Players will duke it out in an ancient castle, a Western-themed remake of the Standoff map from Black Ops 2 , and a remake of Outskirts from World at War . The craziest just might be Micro, which miniaturizes players and drops them on a well-stocked family picnic table.

Here are the official descriptions of each of the four new maps.

  • Citadel : Once home to a powerful medieval army, this ancient castle now sits broken and abandoned. Tight corners force close-quarters engagements, while the moat and drawbridge allows for unique player movement opportunities in this mid-sized map. The last trespassers didn’t make it out alive – maybe you’ll have a better shot.
  • Micro : What’s better than a BBQ on a hot summer day? A miniaturized war zone that takes place on a well-stocked family picnic table, that’s what! Navigate this bite-size battlefield for a larger-than-life experience.
  • Outlaw : Gear up for a showdown in Outlaw ; a western-style re-imagining of the fan favorite map Standoff from Call of Duty®: Black Ops II . This rough-and-tough medium-sized map brings classic engagements, flanking routes and strategic positions for long and medium ranged combat.
  • Rupture : The Call of Duty®: World at War classic Outskirts is re-imagined as a high-tech facility, designed by a futuristic society desperate to repair the Earth’s atmosphere.

It will be interesting to see what happens with Zombies now. Infinity Ward is adding their spin to the popular co-op mode in Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare . Players will get an 80s retro experience as they battle the undead in Zombies in Spaceland .

What do you think about the conclusion of Treyarch’s Zombies saga and the Salvation DLC for Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 ? Sound off in the comments below.
