President Donald Trump addressed the nation at the 2026 State of the Union on Tuesday, February 24, 2026. While he attempted to discuss the major national issues, the President’s speech was interrupted by Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib.
According to the White House (via YouTube), the President was set to talk about the economy, tax cuts, and the immigration crisis in the country.
During his speech, Trump declared how the US has been winning so much despite inflation and imposing tariffs on other countries. Additionally, he made a promise that LA will be as safe as Washington, referring to the city’s crime rate, which has been gradually lowering.

According to The Mirror, Trump made his speech to the lawmakers, Supreme Court justices, military leaders, and other policy makers present in the House of Representatives.
But while one would expect the President to be the center of attention, that was not the case. Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib wore a white blazer with a black pin that read, “ F— ICE,” on one side, and another pin that read, “Release the Epstein files,” on another side.
The report stated that Fox News shortly cut their broadcast from protestors at the US Capitol building. However, the Tlaib’s images still went viral as she smiled at the camera before it cut away from her.
The netizens praised her actions and made tweets in support of the Congresswoman. X User @Susan_for_Peace commented, “Great pin. Her release the Epstein files pin was great too!”
User @ArtCandee wrote, “MAGA is big mad at Democratic House Rep. Rashida Tlaib’s pin,” sharing an image of Tlaib wearing the anti-ICE pin. Another user, @JSnewhabits, wrote, “Thoughts and prayers to anyone emotionally devastated by a pin.” However, MAGA supporters criticised her “classless actions.”

Rashida Tlaib not only disrupted Donald Trump’s State of the Union address because he targeted immigrants. The President, in particular, also criticised the Somali community because Ilhan Omar hails from the East African country.
Trump claimed that immigrants have plundered their country, a majority of them being drug lords and murderers. However, he did not remotely mention the ICE officers who have been killing and detaining people as they please.
In response to his speech, Tlaib shouted, “Alex wasn’t a criminal,” referring to Alex Pretti, who was fatally shot by the federal officers.
For those unaware, Pretti was not the only victim because Renee Nicole Good also shot dead an ICE agent in Minneapolis. What made her death more tragic was how Trump’s cabinet members supported the agent as they painted the deceased woman as a perpetrator.
