Johanna Quaas is a Guinness Book of World Records holder. Quass is the world’s oldest active gymnast at the current age of 87 years old.
According to Guinness , Johanna Quaas is a regular competitor in the amateur competition Landes-Seniorenspiele staged in Saxony, Germany. She performed a floor-and-beam routine on the set of Guinness World Records Lo Show dei Record, where her record was certified when she was 86-years-old. Johanna is now 87 and stills performs cartwheels and can be seen competing on the amateur circuit.
In the video above you can watch some of the moves that Johanna still performs in her floor routines. While some people Johanna’s age are struggling to walk, Quaas can still be seen somersaulting and handstanding her way to applause in German competitions. It isn’t just people her age that she is outperforming. In fact, some of the poses that Quass routinely performs are difficult for people 60 years her junior.
When asked if she ever got any aches or pains from her continued lifestyle as a gymnast, she simply replied, “no.” She also noted that she has no plans to limit her exercise or physical fitness routine as she ages. She is planning to continue on with her normal routine for many more years.
Therefore, it doesn’t seem that Johanna expects to be slowed down anytime soon and plans to continue adding years to her record as “World’s Oldest Active Gymnast” as long as she can.
