In an unusual coincidence, a man named JD Vance has been sentenced to two years in prison for making public threats against billionaire Elon Musk, President Donald Trump, and Vice President JD Vance himself.
67-year-old James Donald “JD” Vance Jr. reportedly used the social media platform called BlueSky to make these threats to the top officials of the government, including the President. He used a fake username “Diaperjdv,” according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Michigan.
According to The Irish Star, in one of his posts, Vance wrote that if Trump, Musk or the Vice President ever visits his city, “they will leave it in a body bag.”
“I will either be shot by a Secret Service sniper or spend the rest of my life in prison. I’ve only got about 10 years of life left anyway, so I don’t [expletive language] care either way,” he added.
In another post from March 7, 2025, James Donald “JD” Vance Jr. wrote a stark message to Donald Trump Jr. The post, which was titled “Donald Trump Jr. Considering a Run for President in 2028,” was a death threat to the eldest son of Trump.
“I will murder that stupid [expletive language] before he gets secret service protection,” Vance wrote. The man was charged with two felonies – Threatening to kill or injure the President or VP, and interstate threatening communications.
As per The Irish Star, attorney Timothy VerHey condemned the social media app James was using and said that his online posts were a “direct attack on democracy”.

He further added that the moment the 67-year-old man threatened to kill the President and other top officials, merely because he disagreed with them, he crossed the line. James Donald “JD” Vance Jr has no relation to Vice President JD Vance (whose name is also James David Vance).
James is a common Christian name that is tied to Christianity and European cultures. It’s a biblical name, meaning “supplanter” or “holder of the heel.” This incident is not the first time that a man has openly threatened to kill members of the Republican Party.
Previously, Richard James Spring of Comstock Park received an 18-month prison sentence after threatening on X to sexually assault a woman in front of Donald Trump and then kill him. Spring took to the popular streaming app TikTok and wrote, “You are going to watch your God DIE.”
William Shink, Special Agent in Charge of the Secret Service’s Detroit Field Office, warned people that any threats or derogatory remarks against President Trump or other members of the government will not be accepted by law, and those people will be investigated.
Amidst increased unrest in the country after Donald Trump’s immigration policies tore apart many families, as the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents allegedly began abusing, terrorizing and threatening people across the country.

Back in May 2025, an undocumented immigrant was arrested for allegedly threatening to assassinate Trump in a letter sent to ICE authorities. In the letter, the immigrant revealed that he planned to shoot Trump in the head at one of his rallies and then “self-deport” to Mexico.
The handwritten letter read, “We are tired of this President messing with us Mexicans.
