Several online users, critics, and journalists have slammed President Donald Trump’s leadership style, which is often described as radical, ruthless, and impulsive. When Trump returned to power in January 2025, he overturned the entire political landscape of America with his fast-paced and no-mercy style of governance.
Many GOP supporters, especially older people who believed in the MAGA campaign, appreciated his rapid rollout of policies, his random immigration probes, and his strong sense of patriotism reflected through his decisions.
However, young people who believed in feminism, supported the LGBTQ community or belonged to it, and strongly advocated for diverse representation of race, caste, and culture were disappointed. Both millennials and Gen Z users flooded social media with criticism of Trump when he introduced certain policies that challenged these values.
As Trump’s tenure approaches the one-year mark in January 2026, CNN’s chief data analyst Harry Enten stated that Latinos—a major group who voted for Donald Trump in the elections and contributed to his victory—are now upset with his recent political actions and have reportedly turned away from him.

As per The HuffPost, citing CBS News/YouGov polling, Enten claimed that Trump’s net approval rating among Latino voters plunged from -2 in early February to -34 by late October, with other surveys showing nearly the same trend.
There was also a notable 38-point decline in Trump and the GOP’s ratings regarding Latino immigration policies since 2024, when they preferred Trump over former Vice President Kamala Harris (then a presidential candidate). “On immigration, Latinos now despise Donald Trump,” Enten said. “In their view, he’s doing something fundamentally wrong.”
Trump’s immigration policies have gained global scrutiny at this point, with many claiming that they are turning the country into an alleged authoritarian state.
What began as a policy by the Trump administration to specifically detain, punish, and deport illegal immigrants with criminal records has become a tactic to abuse, threaten, bully, and terrorize people of color, naturalized citizens, and people from vulnerable communities.
Furthermore, CNN’s Harry Enten added that Democratic gubernatorial candidates this year performed significantly better in heavily Latino areas, with a 52-point advantage for Democrats. According to Circle, young voters from New York, New Jersey, and Virginia were the most involved while voting for the upcoming mayors.
Meanwhile, on November 5, Zohran Mamdani was elected New York City’s youngest and first Muslim mayor. As he began his victory speech, he addressed Trump and said, “I have four words for you: Turn the volume up.”

Despite POTUS threatening Mamdani that he would cut federal funding if his party won, young voters resonated with his creative campaign, which focused on tackling major issues in the state rather than spotlighting sideline issues, and this helped him win the mayoral race.
Trump, who endorsed Independent candidate Andrew Cuomo, lost against Democrat Mamdani. It was revealed that 82% of young women preferred to vote for Mamdani, compared to 65% of men

Eighty-five percent of Latino voters supported the Democratic candidate, according to Circle. In addition, 83% of Black voters chose the Queens native, compared to 52% of white voters. The results clearly show a visible shift toward favoring the opposition.
“What’s happening with Trump is absolutely affecting down-ballot races. Some of it’s turnout, some of it’s persuasion. Latinos are fleeing Republicans and returning to Democrats,” Harry Enten added.
