Following her husband Donald Trump’s joke that she could succeed him as president, Melania Trump grinned in her characteristically silent manner. During Thursday’s hosting of the annual White House congressional picnic, the two made their second consecutive appearance together.
The happy pair also walked the red carpet on Wednesday night at the Kennedy Center’s opening night of Les Misérables, where the first lady spoke little.
Speaking to the group of Republican lawmakers from the White House with a view of the south lawn, Trump enumerated his many professional accomplishments and even took the time to commend his wife’s political acumen.
The First Lady has supported the “Take It Down Act,” which forbids the unconsented internet posting of actual or artificial intelligence-generated deepfake graphic sexual images of humans. After passing the Senate in February, it passed the lower house in April.
Trump joked that the bipartisan passage of the revenge porn measure may pave the way for a political career and hailed “our great first lady” for it. “I want to thank you Melania,” Trump said. “When I saw that bill pass, bipartisan, I said, ‘You know, I think you’re gonna take my job Melania’… we don’t get so much bipartisan.” He continued, “She didn’t know why, she said `Why is that?’ I said, ‘There is no reason for it, but you did it, congratulations it’s a great job.’”

The FLOTUS let her husband speak for her while grinning, nodding, and clapping. Melania warned last month that social media and artificial intelligence were “digital candy” for the future generation. “They’re sweet, addictive, and designed to affect our kids’ cognitive development,” she cautioned. “These new technologies can be weaponized, shape beliefs, and, unfortunately, affect emotions and make them deadly,” she continued.
Lately, Donald Trump and the First Lady’s s complicated relationship has been in the limelight again. Melania is “counting the minutes until he is out of office and she can divorce him,” said a former Trump administration aide, reports the Daily Mail. Stephanie Wolkoff, a former Trump official who was named senior advisor to US First Lady Melania Trump, asserted that the Trumps’ marriage was “transactional” and that they had separate bedrooms in the White House.

Omarosa Manigault Newman, another former adviser and former Donald Trump political staffer, asserted that the couple’s 15-year marriage was finished. “Melania is counting every minute until he is out of office and she can divorce,” she said. “If Melania were to try to pull the ultimate humiliation and leave while he’s in office, he would find a way to punish her.”
Marla Maples, Trump’s second wife, is prohibited from releasing any books or speaking in interviews that are critical of him under their prenuptial agreement. According to attorney Christina Previte, Melania most certainly consented to a similar code of silence.
