It looks like it keeps getting better for Woody Allen. The filmmaker has made films for decades, and now he’s being honored at the upcoming Golden Globes with the Cecil B. Demill award . The fact that Allen is receiving such a prostegious honor isn’t too surprising, as the filmmaker has had quite the comeback in the last few years.

This year his film Blue Jasmine, starring Cate Blanchett, was Woody Allen’s biggest opening ever. The film grossed $612,767 during its opening weekend, which is an average of $102,128 per screen. Seeing as Blue Jasmine is limited in its release, it makes for an impressively strong debut.

In the last few years Woody Allen has directed strong works, which has won critics over. In the last three years Allen has written and directed fabulous works like Midnight in Paris , To Rome with Love , and his latest Blue Jasmine .

Of his accomplishments, Woody Allen still remains modest, telling Time Out magazine:

“I don’t work hard compared to a taxi driver or a teacher or a policeman. People think making a film every year is overwhelming. It’s not. Once you have the money and the script, how long does it take? It’s not that big a deal.”

The organizer for the Golden Globes Theo Kingma sounds pretty excited to bestow the Cecil B DeMille award on Allen, having said: “There is no one more worthy.”

This is certainly a turn around for Woody Allen, who has battled years of bad press after he coupled up with his step-daughter and now wife Soon Yi-Previn. Famous for not turning up to award shows, it’s a big of a wonder if Woody Allen will actually be at the Golden Globes to accept his award. One might hope that this honor may change his mind, but you never do know with Mr. Allen.
