It’s been a few years since Daniel Radcliffe starred in a Harry Potter movie, but it doesn’t look like he’ll be escaping his loyal fans anytime soon.
The actor was mobbed this week by a bunch of Potter Heads at the Venice Film Festival.
Radcliffe was at the festival to promote his new movie Kill Your Darlings, but it was Harry Potter that got most of the attention. According to Deadline , a crowd of unabashed “Harry-Boppers” banged on the doors of the press conference in an effort to see their fictional hero.
After a brief interruption, the actor continued to answer questions about his new movie.
Radcliffe said : “Thankfully, it’s not always like this. I’ve been dealing with it in various ways since I was 11… I don’t take it seriously, actually I think it’s funny.”
Radcliffe said that he was very appreciative of the ongoing support he’s received from his Harry Potter fan base. The actor also said that he believes that his Harry Potter fans are appreciative of his latest movie choices.
Radcliffe said: “I’m incredibly grateful for the swirl of support behind me. My fans seem excited by the unconventional path I am taking.”
Once the Harry Potter fans calmed down a little bit Radcliffe started talking about his new movie. The 24-year-old actor, who plays Allen Ginsberg in Kill Your Darlings, said that he was drawn to the film because he loves poetry.
Radcliffe said: “I love poetry and it was fantastic to get the part and have the opportunity to dive into Ginsberg’s life. The diaries he made when he was young gave me an amazing insight into his character.”
