White Castle is slinging something vastly different than their signature sliders on their website, having just added a “steam-grilled-on-a-bed-of-onions” scented candle to their offerings to help raise money for autism.
The candle was developed by White Castle with a woman “often called the “queen” of home fragrances,” Laura Slatkin. (Slatkin created Nest, Slatkin & Co. and has also paired with chocolatier Godiva to make chocolate-scented candles.) The candle was introduced in honor of the 18th annual National Hamburger Month, and even comes in a ceramic square that mimics the cardboard sleeve White Castle burgers are served in.
So, even if you really, really dig White Castle burgers in all their onion-y, eat twenty at a time because they’re small goodness, could you handle the soft scent of grease and steam cooked onions wafting through your foyer? I’m in the minority of people that doesn’t even have to be high to eat White Castle, and I don’t know if I could handle it. The sleeve would make a cool pen holder, though.
