Justin Bieber, Miley Cyrus’ ‘Twerk’ Leaks At A Gloriously Appropriate Time

Justin Bieber and Miley Cyrus’ anticipated feature on “Twerk,” the new single from rapper Lil Twist — has leaked.

With timing that’s nothing short of miraculous, 2:34 minutes of an arguably average R&B/Hip-hop hybrid arrived online on Wednesday morning.

With little to no sign of Young Money MC Lil Twist on the version that’s landed it seems likely the leak is a deliberate grab of Twerking’s zeitgeist moment, described by Idolator’s Carl Williott as its simultaneous “peak and nadir.”

I refer, of course, to Miley’s drop-jaw inducing gyrations with Robin Thicke to his hit “Blurred Lines” at MTV’s Video Music Awards on Sunday.

Wearing nothing but an ill-fitting, flesh-colored bikini, a tongue that would not quit, a foam finger, and seemingly no filters whatsoever, Cyrus’ twerk-and-grind show stunned the Brooklyn Barclays Center crowd.

Miley has copped a lot of heat as a result but 10.1 million watched the show, Viacom are buzzing, and so is anticipation for her upcoming Bangerz album and anything Twerk related.

Bieber’s presence on the “Twerk” single and anticipation for his new music adds sizable frisson to the trio’s collaboration, as well as throwing up intriguing possibilities for a video that will probably never materialize.

The single is produced by Maejor Ali but it’s very likely today’s version isn’t the final cut.

Announced in July, “Twerk” is expected to appear on the rapper’s upcoming album Bad Decisions and is executive produced by Young Money Entertainment head Lil Wayne and Shawty Mane (aka Bieber).

Oddly, the track and hook “I came up in this party time to twerk” linger after it’s over, often the sign of a hit — even if not a critical one.

As YouTube clips and Soundclouds are gradually removed, alternatively listen to “Twerk” here.
