James DiMaggio’s Sister Places Blame On Hannah Anderson

James DiMaggio’s sister says kidnap victim Hannah Anderson was “trouble,” adding that her brother may have been the real victim in the situation that ended with him being killed by police.

Police shot and killed DiMaggio earlier this month after an extensive manhunt. Police say he killed Hannah’s mother and her brother at their home an hour east of San Diego and then kidnapped Hannah, taking her on an interstate getaway.

In an interview with CNN’s Piers Morgan , James DiMaggio’s sister said her brother warned her weeks before the alleged kidnapping that Hannah Anderson was “trouble” and that he was wary of her.

Lora DiMaggio also said she doubts the media’s account of the situation, which shows her brother as a murderous predator and Hannah Anderson an innocent victim.

“It’s very hard to believe that someone who was just so genuine and so dependable every single solitary day just woke up one day and decided to do this,” she said.

Police say James DiMaggio was nothing like what his sister describes. A police affadavit says that Cristina Anderson and her brother Ethan were tortured before James killed them both, and afterward DiMaggio set the home on fire.

But James DiMaggio’s sister doubts even that account.

“The only evidence that has come forward at this point is the fact the two bodies were found on his property,” she said. “There’s a lot of missing information. I have yet to see any solid evidence.”

James DiMaggio’s story will never be told. After a manhunt that stretched across several states and into Canada and Mexico, police found DiMaggio and Anderson at a camp site in Utah. He was shot and killed by police .

Lora added that the Hannah Anderson known to television audiences — an innocent teenager terrified by her ordeal — is not the same person she once knew. But she did not elaborate on what exactly she knew about Anderson’s true personality.

Instead, James DiMaggio’s sister speculated that her brother stepped in to help Hannah, who may have been in some kind of life-threatening situation.
