Camille Grammer underwent a hysterectomy Friday after being diagnosed with early stage endometrial cancer.
“The surgery went well and she is expected to make a complete recovery following a significant recuperation period,” a representative for the former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star told People . The rep also said the 45-year-old was “at an elevated risk” due to genetics .
“[Camille] has been diligent about regular checkups and monitoring, which explains that early detection and rapid treatment,” the representative said. “Mrs. Grammer expresses gratitude to all the amazing health care professionals who have taken such loving and nurturing care of her. She urges all women to be aware of the genetic factors relating to women’s cancers and get regular checkups.”
It was reported in March 2013 that Camille Grammer would not be returning to The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills for personal reasons. She said she enjoyed her time with the other cast members and that she would continue to watch and support the other women, but she — along with Adrienne Maloof — skipped the show’s reunion taping.
Camille Grammer filed for divorce from Frasier star Kelsey Grammer in July 2010 after 13 years of marriage, and sought primary physical custody of the couple’s two children, in addition to child and spousal support. The divorce was finalized in February 2011, but it wasn’t until December 2012 that the former couple finally reached a financial settlement . The couple co-owned several properties together while they were married, as well as other investments, and the battle over the assets lasted two years.
The reality show star said it was difficult to co-parent children Mason Olivia and Jude Gordon with Kelsey Grammer because they were not communicating with each other. She also said that Grammer effectively banned their children from saying her name in his home.
“So these poor kids, my daughter and my son can’t say my name in their father’s house,” she said. “I think they can say ‘Mom’ or ‘The other household. But they can’t say my name. They can’t say ‘Camille.’”
