It’s been ten years since Michelle Williams has been in Wilmington, North Carolina. It was then where the actress left her Dawson’s Creek past in the rearview mirror after filming wrapped, and went on to become the sole cast member to show true longevity in her career. Instead of being known as Jen Lindley from the Creek, Williams took on fearless roles in Brokeback Mountain , Blue Valentine and My Week With Marilyn .

Ten years after Williams said goodbye to her young adult years, she has returned to the set of Dawson’s Creek . This time around it was with her daughter Matilda in toe. Williams lived in Wilmington from 1998 to 2003, which were the years the 33-year-old actress played the highly despised Jen Lindley on the hot WB show.

Recently Williams was interviewed at the New Yorker Festival when the conversation turned to her Dawson’s Creek past. Williams revealed that she had recently returned to the set that made her, and her co-stars famous. Williams said of the experience:

“I actually hadn’t been back since the show ended, but I went back and took my daughter on vacation and saw people I hadn’t seen in 10 years and went to all the places that we used to go.”

Of living there instead of Los Angeles during her late teens and early twenties, Williams said:

“It was great. It was actually a real stroke of luck to be transported there.”

In the past Michelle Williams was heavily scrutinized for her comments on her Dawson’s Creek past. In an interview Williams had compared her time on Dawson’s Creek to being in the mob :

“I said to a friend [that] being on Dawson’s Creek was kind of like being a mobster. You set up a shop selling pizza but in the back you’re laundering money. You’re doing one thing in plain sight and secretly plotting something else. I was plotting my tastes, my interests, my beliefs and hopes for what I could be.”

It looks like these days Michelle has a bit more perspective on her time filming Dawson’s Creek .
