Harry and Lloyd will soon be heading to the big screen. Peter and Bobby Farrelly, the brains behind the first movie, revealed a few interesting details today about the long awaited Dumb and Dumber sequel.
First, and most importantly, the movie is still happening. The sequel was put on hold earlier this year when Jim Carrey decided he did not to participate in the movie. It’s not clear if that issue has been completely resolved but the Farrelly Brothers are moving forward with the script.
The directors also revealed the title of the new movie, Dumb And Dumber To.
The Farrelly Brothers made the announcement on Twitter, writing:
“You also might be interested to know that we are almost done with the Dumb and Dumber To (sic) script. I think you’re going to like it.”
Slash Film reports that Daniels and Carrey haven’t put ink to paper yet but both actors have expressed interest in a sequel to their slapstick 1994 comedy.
IMDB writes: “Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels are both on board, shooting could begin this year.”
The Farrelly Brothers haven’t revealed too much information about the sequel but they did make it clear that Harry and Lloyd are still friends and are still dumb.
Bobby Farrelly said:
“I can tell you that there is no growth out of either one of them and it’s 20 years later. What is funny about the original is that they’re grown men who are complete losers and when the studio came to us about a sequel, we were like, ‘Loads of kids are losers and they’re dumb.’ We didn’t see any value in the sequel so we backed out of it, but now these guys are in regular life and they’re still basically children at heart.”
