Rush Limbaugh Pal Seth MacFarlane: I Get How Conservatives Feel About The Media

Seth MacFarlane has at least one fan of his Oscars hosting gig: his political opposite number Rush Limbaugh.

MacFarlane’s apparently controversial Oscars hosting performance was far from a resounding success . He’s being blasted by various constituencies for off-color, offensive, and even misogynistic remarks during the awards telecast. He got slammed on social media as well. Despite (or maybe because of) of these condemnations, TV ratings spiked during this year’s ceremony, but MacFarlane has already vowed he is one and done as far as hosting the Academy Awards.

As the criticism continues to come pouring in, the Los Angeles Times reminds everyone – and the reminder shouldn’t have been necessary — that “MacFarlane regularly uses hot-button issues like sex and religion as comedic fodder in Family Guy , the animated television show he created.” As The Inquisitr has previously wondered, how realistic was it to expect MacFarlane to tone down his act for the Oscars?

Anyone who even peripherally watches Family Guy or has seen his appearances on CNN or elsewhere in a discussion format knows that McFarlane is a big liberal politically.

Yet it turns out that conservative Rush Limbaugh of all people is in his corner.

But in an email exchange with Rush Limbaugh (who has “appeared” on Family Guy three times), MacFarlane seems to have developed some new-found empathy for how right-of-center persons are treated and ostracized by most elements of the mainstream media, Hollywood, and the music industry. This is how Limbaugh characterized it on his radio show :

“I’ve been in the recording studio with Seth, and I don’t care what you think of him: The man is profoundly, supremely talented. Now, there are a lot of characterizations about how he uses it and what direction he takes it, but there’s no denying his talent, and he’s a profoundly hard worker. I sent him an attaboy note yesterday morning. I sent him a wish-you-well kind of note. He wrote back and said, ‘You know what? I kind of understand how you conservatives feel about the media now.’ Because they were already proclaiming him the worst host ever before the show had even aired. I mean, 12 hours before the show.”

If you watched the Oscars, and many of us had other things to do than sit through this self-congratulatory hypefest, what did you think of Seth MacFarlane’s hosting gig?
