Maurice Jones-Drew was arrested this weekend after he allegedly assaulted a security guard at a restaurant in St. Augustine, Florida.

The Jaguars running back reportedly punched the security guard and knocked him out cold. The NFL player was arrested and charged with battery.

According to Pro Football Talk , the incident started when the security guard told one of Jones-Drew’s friends to stop touching a young woman. The two parties got into an argument and the NFL player reportedly punched the security guard and knocked him unconscious.

The security guard was hospitalized after the incident.

TMZ , who obtained a copy of the police report, said that the incident occurred at “Reggae Sundays” at the Conch House restaurant on Sunday night. Police noted that the “punch was intentional” and that the man’s jaw had “swollen a great deal and had a large lump on his jaw bone.”

The Jacksonville Jaguars and Maurice Jones-Drew have not commented on the incident.

The NFL running back isn’t the first NFL player to run into some legal issues during the off-season. Titus Young is facing 11 criminal charges , Josh Portis was waived by the Seahawks after a DUI arrest , and former NFL player Chad Johnson was recently arrested for violating probation .

St. Augustine Police confirmed it has filed misdemeanor battery charges against Maurice Jones-Drew. Jags gathering more info.
