Some parents swear they love all their kids the same; others admit, sometimes grudgingly, that they have a favorite. A blogger, Buzz Bishop, falls into the latter category, admitting that his older son is his favorite.
“Yes, I have a favourite son and I’m not ashamed to admit it,” Bishop writes, according to the Star .
While many parents are aghast that someone could have a favorite child, or at least admit it publicly on a forum where one day the children might see it, Bishop doesn’t think its that big of a deal.
“If I were to be absolutely honest, my older son is my favorite of the two,” he told Good Morning America . “He and I are adventurous partners in crime, and I can’t imagine life without him. He was an accident waiting to happen, and I’m so glad it did.
“I’m sure my kids will read it and, hopefully, come at it from the perspective of (living) a life with me,” he told the Star. “I don’t play favourites with my children. I don’t … shun my younger son. I may say I like Zacharie a little more, but it doesn’t mean I love Charlie any less.”
Many of the comments on the blog have been critical.
“It’s very hurtful to say you have a fav. child,” one commenter wrote. “I hope when they can both do things which you deem meaningful, you will fav. them both. p.s. I think Dad’s who don’t fall in love with their kids until they can “do stuff” suck. That’s just another way to get out of diaper duty imho.”
