Ron Howard and Chris Hemsworth are at it again, this time leaving the fast cars behind and telling the classic tale of Moby Dick in the film adaptation called In The Heart Of The Sea.
This is a departure, from the craziness of making Rush , which opens in theaters this Friday and is about Formula One racing. Chris Hemsworth plays, womanizer James Hunt in that film.
This time around he will be mellowing out with the film adaptation of the Moby Dick story, based on true events, as is Rush by the way.
In The Heart Of The Sea is the survival story of the crew of the Essex who in 1820 was attacked by a sperm whale and left adrift at sea for 90 days.
The cast for the drama is made up of some heavy hitters Benjamin Walker ( Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter ), Cillian Murphy ( Batman Begins ), and Ben Whishaw ( Skyfall ).
The movie’s official synopsis which came with the press release is as follows, according to Screen Rant ,
In the winter of 1820, the New England whaling ship Essex was assaulted by something no one could believe: a whale of mammoth size and will, and an almost human sense of vengeance. The real-life maritime disaster would inspire Melville’s Moby Dick . But that told only half the story.
In The Heart of the Sea reveals the encounter’s harrowing aftermath, as the ship’s surviving crew is pushed to their limits and forced to do the unthinkable to stay alive. Braving storms, starvation, panic and despair, the men will call into question their deepest beliefs, from the value of their lives to the morality of their trade, as their captain searches for direction on the open sea and his first mate still seeks to bring the great whale down.
Ron Howard continues to prove why he is one of the most talented American directors of modern times, taking on a tale unlike any he has in the past. In The Heart of the Sea, has no release date as of yet, but we will keep you posted.
