Gloria Estefan is penning a musical that will tell the story of her rise to fame. The singer and the Nederlander Organization hope to take the project to Broadway .
While no further details have been released by the parties involved, it is assumed Estefan’s unnamed production will contain a healthy number of the 55-year-old’s previous hits, which include “Conga” and “The Rhythm is Going to Get You”. It is expected that Estefan’s collaboration with her husband, musician and producer Emilio Estefan, will also play a part in the musical.
The jukebox musical has proven a successful formula over the years, with artists ranging from ABBA to The Spice Girls to Queen to Blondie all having had their back catalog sampled in musicals of varying success.
