Google Nexus S Gets First Firmware Update, Web And Map Fixes

The Google Nexus S is already getting it’s first firmware update. The update addresses web lag on Google’s first Android 2.3 phone, while fixing several Google Map bug issues. Several other undisclosed fixes have also been reported by Google, but have not been disclosed in full.

While the firmware update shows the speed at which Google operates, it also highlights the fact that manufacturer fragmentation for Android Smartphoens has slowed down updates for many fixes, even minor bugs that require attention.

To address fragmentation issues Google has begun pushing out core apps fixes into stand-alone updates, such as Google Maps and Gmail.

In any case, it’s nice to see fixes arriving so quickly.
